I have been a Registered Manager for many years and have spent over 30 years providing care to those that require support in a residential environment. What I find really rewarding, is how we are able to maintain consistently high standards, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those in our care together with Katrina Watkins – Home Manager.
Our dedicated, caring and compassionate team, really make a difference to the lives of our residents by promoting their independence and providing encouragement and support for them to make their own decisions, helping them to reach their full potential.
I have worked with my professional and compassionate Care Team in delivering the highest level of residential care for up 101 residents. I have worked in elderly care for the past 30 years, during which time I have gained experience in supporting people living with dementia. I am qualified to Level 4 NVQ in Care and have achieved Level 4 in Leadership and Management, gaining an RMA award. This wide-ranging experience has equipped me well for my role at Bradeney House, where I have worked hard to ensure that those in my care lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive. I strongly believe that a hands-on approach is essential in creating a safe, warm and homely atmosphere where our residents can maintain their independence. For me, it’s about making a difference. We have built a strong team, that have the skill sets necessary, to help and support each other. They learn about the residents and nurture them.
It is very rewarding to come away at the end of the day with the feeling that I have achieved something and that I’ve made someone’s’ day special, even if it is just a simple thing. I get a real sense of achievement when I see that the residents’ needs are being met holistically and that they are not just being given the basic requirements.
For me, that’s a really special thing.
